CROWD CONTROLOL (pronounced crowd control) is the main recording and performance identity of Anthony Salce, a Miami-based electronic music producer and DJ. With over two decades of classical training on the violin, his approach to music production is stemmed from melodic and chordal training, resulting in early connotations of deep tech-house, to sonic experiments in minimal techno.
Less than a year into producing electronically, Crowd Controlol’s 3-track debut EP “Lolwut” was charted at #6 in Tech House Releases on Beatport, earning plays from many large scale performers from around the globe such as Stefano Noferini and Nicole Moudaber. Since, he’s released tracks on labels such as Draft LTD, Patent Skillz, SK Supreme Records, Ritmik Records, and Beatdown Music. 2015 has played host to his biggest year of releases and gigs to date.
Crowd Controlol’s left an early mark on the city of Miami with his first residency in 2012 at a bimonthly party known as “One Night in Miami”, an Afterhours segment held early Saturday mornings on The Terrace at Club Space. Anthony was known for his notoriously dark and provocative DJ sets that inspired a newer generation of underground advocates to appreciate the more sophisticated and intricate elements of electronic dance music. His sets were known to inspire a greater appreciation for the underground in South Florida, encouraging the musical tastes of his peers to steer away from streamlined commercialism and appreciate the deeper, more authentic qualities of a DJ set.
Beginning his travels to Ibiza, Spain in the summer of 2013 and joining forces with Richie Hawtin and the ENTER. team in Public Relations, Anthony continued to develop his sound as Crowd Controlol while maintaining an innovative and forward thinking approach to artistry. Upon forging valuable relationships and discovering new music overseas, the experience has become an integral part of his increased development as an artist.
Recently returning from an inspired 2015 season on Ibiza, Crowd Controlol performed memorably at venues such as Pacha, Veto Social Club, Eden Night Club, and various boat parties. More committed than ever to a focused development of his sound in both daily production and live performance – the aim is to provide a unique musical experience that continues to emerge at an ambitious rate.
Less than one year into producing electronically, September 2011 marked the release his three-track EP “Lolwut” with AudioGroove Records which was charted at number 6 in tech house releases on the world’s most popular electronic music store, Beatport. Shortly thereafter in January 2012, he signed his minimal-tech track “Our House” with the world renowned SK Supreme Records, marking a huge step in his production career. Anthony graduated the University of Miami in the spring of 2012 with a major in Management and minor in Music Business, and is now seriously pursuing his career in the dance industry, performing at some of the hottest venues in South Florida such as Mekka, Space Miami, Grand Central, The Bank, Seven, Dimension, and Finnegans. With nearly 20 years of experience in music, beginning with the Violin at age 3, combined with a keen enthusiasm for technology and computers, electronic music production is something that inevitably has become natural preoccupation for Anthony. Today, he spends his daily dose of hours in the recording studio mastering his unique sound and DJ style, while playing host to the highly acclaimed radio show, “To The Housebeat”, podcasted monthly on iTunes. Regardless of whether you are a longtime follower of electronic music, a casual supporter, or even a first-time listener, Crowd Controlol’s tracks and live DJ sets pledge a unique underground experience that continues to evolve daily at a disciplined and ambitious rate.
