Mary Jane has spent over the last two decades centered around underground electronica and rave & dj culture. Even from a teenager she was hooked on listening to music, collecting records, and even played the drums in a local garage band. Mary Jane has often been called the “Godmother of the Memphis scene” and helped pioneer and further the Memphis underground. In the past, she has owned, operated and bought for 2 different record stores in the Memphis area, Millennium Records and Electric Soul Patrol. Mary Jane also promotes events with her crew ESP, and has been a vital element throughout the South and Mid-West United States. She began her DJ career laying down strong, fierce, pounding melodies of hard trance, blistering techno, and furious acid, combined with heavy kicks, mind bending rhythms, and fast paced BPM’s. Over the years she has adapted to various sounds and styles, playing each one with ease and precision. Currently she is able to become a chameleon of sorts under her DJ guise and spin various underground styles with elegance. Mary Jane enjoys spinning heavy bass driven tracks with driving synths….everything from funky and uplifting to progressive and moving to stoney and melodic, to dark, moody, and serious. She often takes the listener on a rollercoaster ride of emotion, layering melodies together and mixing the tracks for extensive periods of time. She can perform for any crowd and any condition and has a genuine knack for reading a crowd. Mary Jane’s hypnotic techy rhythms of house, techno, breaks and trance are enjoyed by crowd’s worldwide.
