Tim Penner

Biography

Throw genres to the wind and the result is an artist that prides himself on creativity, originality, and experimentation with both music production and performances. Toronto based Tim Penner is this artist, who without fear seamlessly blends sounds that touch on Techno, House, Progressive and Trance.

Beginning his career in 2002 under the alias ‘Tygon’, Tim regularly hosted the sounds of artists like Chris Liebing, Adam Beyer, and Speedy J on his highly successful radio broadcast, ‘AddictiveBeat’. A weekly residency at one of Toronto’s biggest clubs, Viva Nightclub, quickly followed giving Tim the opportunity to play for thousands alongside the world’s most notable names in the industry. His booming production career soon followed, resulting in releases with Marcus Schossow, Airbase, Misja Helsloot, John O’Callaghan, and Danny Oliveira (DNYO). These productions were often played by the likes of Above and Beyond, Armin Van Buuren, Matt Darey, and Marco V, to name a few.

In 2011, Tim Penner began producing under his real name, venturing into a sound brand new to the world of true audio manipulation. Music is made of layers of frequencies that create the soundtrack to our lives. If you can harness this concept through technology, you can innovate rather than imitate, he says. And indeed, innovate is what he does best. His original styling is paying off with no signs of slowing down, as demand for his productions has skyrocketed. He can now boast success and staggering results on labels such as Replug, Proton Music, 99Percent, Stripped, Release and his very own label, co-directed with DNYO, Konstrukt.
With his newest music releases catapulting to some of the biggest charts in the world, Tim Penner is unleashing a sound of his own, which some say is from another world. In an industry diluted with mediocrity, Tim looks to bridge the gap between ‘what people know’ and ‘what people should know’.
